Accounting Manager Job Description

Reporting to the General Manager/Executive Professional of the Harvest Golf Club (www.harvestgolf.com), you will become a key member of the Harvest’s Management team. This position offers a competitive compensation package with the potential for bonuses when established performance goals and objectives are achieved.

Ideal Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. A “can do” attitude that demonstrates a genuine care for our customers and a strong desire to take on new challenges.
  2. A team player that is highly motivated to serve our customers, is willing to tackle any project with enthusiasm, has excellent organizational skills and has outstanding attention to accounting details.
  3. A proven track record of completing accurate and timely financial statements, budgets, analysis, etc.
  4. Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
  5. A quick study with the ability to work independently.
  6. A minimum of three years of experience in a key accounting or bookkeeping role. No previous golf club accounting experience necessary.
  7. Formal training and education in accounting. Although an accounting designation is not required, it would be an asset.
  8. Above average knowledge and experience with ACCPAC, Simply Accounting and the Excel for tracking and reporting purposes.
  9. Experience in the selection and implementation of an integrated operations and accounting system would be helpful.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the entire accounting cycle, including: preparation and reconciliation of member account statements and the processing, reconciliation and collection of membership dues; payroll and payroll remittances; vendor payables and payment; GST/PST and WCB remittances; accounts receivable and collections; cash reconciliations, etc.; the preparation of monthly financial statements and quarterly reports to the board of directors.
  2. Working closely with each of the department leaders to assist them in reporting complete, accurate and timely financial information.
  3. Providing information as required to the parent company controller.
  4. Preparation of year end working papers for external audit purposes.
  5. Assistance in the selection and implementation of an integrated operations and accounting system in the next year.
  6. Hiring and supervision of accounting administration staff.
  7. Management and monitoring of the Club’s cash position.
  8. Review of budgets submitted by all department leaders.
  9. The use of ACCPAC, Simply Accounting and Excel for tracking and reporting purposes.
